Concert Band
Concert Band coincides with the Intermediate and Advanced Band courses. Rehearsals are held both during class and after school with sectionals and dress rehearsals. Students will be auditioned for chairs and parts at the beginning of the school year. The concert band performs at events such as the Winter and Spring concerts, PGCPS County Band Festival, Spring Adjudication, and graduation.
String Orchestra
The String Orchestra coincides with the Intermediate and Advanced Orchestra courses. This group works diligently during and after school with sectionals and dress rehearsals to perform for the Winter and Spring Concerts, the PGCPS County Secondary Orchestra Festival, Spring Adjudication, and graduation. Auditions for chairs and parts will be scheduled at the beginning of the school year.
“Marching Eagles” Marching Band
The Marching Eagles are a show-style marching band that performs for football games, competitions, and numerous parades. The group consists of instrumentalists, dancers, and flag twirlers called auxiliary. Our largest and premiere ensemble is designed to give the director and students a good starting point for learning and developing a deeper appreciation and understanding of marching band styles. Students in Intermediate and Advanced Bands are required to participate in this ensemble. Exceptions apply to students participating in a Fall Sport Event (i.e. varsity football, volleyball).
Pep Band Steel Band Auxiliary
The Pep Band is an ensemble of instrumentalists who play to "pep" up the crowd at varsity basketball games. Members of pep band are a subset group from the marching band. This program is designed to give the director and students a good starting point for learning and developing a deeper appreciation and understanding of marching band music styles. Students interested in being a member may sign up after marching band.
The Steel Band is a new ensemble starting the Fall of 2008. Students will learn how to play the steel pan, music’s newest instrument from the
The auxiliary are elite groups of beautiful, talented young ladies who perform with the marching band. The auxiliary consists of dancers and flag twirlers. Students interested in becoming a member must pass audition requirements.
